In the last post, Notebook admonished John Kerry for politicking–mainly for his criticism and not having any fresh idea added to the table. It had nothing to do with the fact that he is a Democrat. In fact, Notebook heard many good ideas from the Democratic Party this week.

One notable comment came from Sen. Joe Biden. How about bringing the Sunni into a small profit from future oil sale, Biden spoke on C-SPAN and again on PBS NewsHour. Biden then invoked his experience dealing with the faction and ethnic conflict in the Balkan and said that conflcit was much more intricate than the current war.

Indeed this is a stick-and-carrot type of diplomacy and could very well help unifying the fractured and fragile Baghdad government.
